The qualities that make an item a joy to use can be subtle. Often it is a mixture of form and function that cause an object to become useful in our lives.  A QualityMade object can become so transparent that you hardly notice it and yet use it daily.  QualityMade is searching for these items, the ones that Christopher Alexander author of “A Pattern Language” describes as having “Right Fit”.

This site is an attempt to show off the special qualities of these things.  Along the way we will explore the qualities that make them unique and different.  We’ll look into the design process and gain understanding about what went in to producing something that in some cases, decades later, still possess the criteria that make them QualityMade.

So the quest is on to find these quality objects, highlight them and discover what makes them special. Along the way, we may find some duds and N’er do wells that are worth noting also to show the stark contrast between shoddy bang them out by thousands make your life a pain products and the commitment to quality and elegance that make some ‘THINGS’ a joy to use and be around.
